“Created in awe of the She in me. My knowing, my courage, my creative…Created in awe of the He in me. My wisdom, my movement, my container…”
This first collection of art and poetry is inspired by my conversation with Nature and Spirituality and is named after verse 53:17 of the Quran, The eye did not waver… These particular lines inspire the desire to remain present in merging worlds; a possibility born from weaving in the wide steps taken from my Sufi path with Rumi, through indigenous wisdom, and encompassing myriad Guides and Ancestors that walk in the Seen and Unseen worlds.
I journey into the art world with different tools but my favourite companions are Charcoal and Pencil.
Living in the heart of Cumbria, inspiration surrounds me in tall, friendly Trees, in the wild and free River that has become part of my body, in the Mountains that wrap my home in a cloak of protection.
And in this tilting towards Her ancient 'Hello', sometimes I can find a way to describe something Infinite. And on those lucky days there is a merging of the inner and outer worlds - a possibility - that I am both the star that shines and the one who dreams of meeting it...
You are the dream of infinite beings, and you dreamed yourself into existence for the joy of who you could be -
and for others to marvel at.
To Take a Step Without Feet
This is love: to fly toward a secret sky,
to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment.
First, to let go of life.
In the end, to take a step without feet.
To regard this world as invisible,
and to disregard what appears to the self.
